Mentors
are recruited from local clubs, service organizations and
congregations. Mentor candidates are required to complete
a thorough application/screening process including a social
and family history, reference checks, and a criminal background
check.
Children and adolescents living in the Ely area are eligible
to participate in the Mentoring Program. Application and approval
by a parent or guardian is required.
Through mentoring programs, young people are connected with
positive, caring adults to foster the development of strong,
supportive relationships. Involvement in a mentoring relationship
can inspire young people to set goals, raise their expectations
of themselves and establish a long-term relationship with
an adult as a friend and advocate.
